Privacy policy

Last updated: 17 June 2026

Etyvest is a research tool that analyses publicly listed companies. It is currently in private development. This policy explains what personal data the site handles, why, and the rights you have over it. It is written to meet our obligations under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Who we are

Etyvest (“we”, “us”) is operated by the operator of Etyvest, who is the data controller responsible for your personal data. You can contact us about anything in this policy at plovahq@gmail.com.

The data we handle, and why

We are built to collect as little personal data as possible. We have no user accounts and no database: each company analysis is computed fresh and is not stored against you.

  • Cookies and local storage. We use one strictly-necessary cookie (to keep you signed in through the development password gate) and one functional setting (your light/dark theme choice, stored in your browser). Neither tracks you or builds a profile. Details are on our cookie notice.
  • Technical and security logs. Our hosting provider (Vercel) automatically processes limited technical information — such as your IP address and basic request details — to serve the site securely and reliably. This is standard for any website and is necessary to operate it and protect it from abuse.

We do not use any advertising or third-party tracking, and we do not sell or share your personal data for marketing.

Company data and third-party sources

When you analyse a company, the site fetches that company’s public information from external sources — currently the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC EDGAR) and Financial Modeling Prep, and, as we build out the news sentiment and conduct layer, news and knowledge-graph data from GDELT. We send these services the company ticker you asked about; we do not send them your personal data. (The SEC requires every request to carry a contact email — that is our address, not yours.)

This information is about companies, not about you, and is reproduced for research purposes with its sources shown.

Legal basis

Where we process the limited personal data above, we rely on our legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving a research tool, and on the strictly-necessary basis for the data required to deliver a service you have asked for.

How long we keep it

Because we store no accounts and no analysis history, there is no personal data for us to retain. Technical logs held by our hosting provider are kept only for a limited period for security and operational purposes, and then deleted.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. To exercise any of these, contact us at plovahq@gmail.com. As we hold so little data, some of these rights may not apply in practice — we will tell you if that is the case.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK supervisory authority, at ico.org.uk.

Children

Etyvest is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site develops — for example, when we introduce the chat feature or any analytics. When we do, we will change the “last updated” date above.
